Shiva

Shiva became part of the Tigerranch familiy on December, 2nd 2006. The animal trainer Dieter Dittmann entrusted his loved one to us, because long journeys were no longer appropriate for a tiger lady of age. She already hadn't been working actively at the circus for some time, because of health problems and instead enjoyed a close relationship to Mr. Dittmann. Thus, it was even more important for him to find a place, which provides Shiva a familial environment.

Unfortunately, Shiva suffered from eye cataract, when she was young, so she was almost blind. At the animal hospital of Gießen, Germany, artificial lenses were implanted, a surgery which surely might not often be done in tigers and without doubt shows Mr. Dittmann's great passion for these animals.

We experience Shiva as a very sensitive and bright being. She is careful, but not fearful. She seems to know, how to enjoy life and despite her age, Shiva is still very playful. She has been called princess, ever since, and that describes her best.
